Wedding and Special Event Information

We have a carefully restored 16000 square foot plantation house complete with columned front and rear porticos. Ten public rooms on the main floor allow ample room for your guests. A large terrace and a ballroom offer space for dancing. Our beautiful staircase and other architectural details make lovely backdrops for your photographs. We can accommodate receptions from thirty to two hundred guests. We also have eleven bedrooms, all with private baths, for your out-of-town guests to use for your special week end. A separate cottage provides an additional two rooms and baths which will accommodate four more guests. The secluded bridal suite is perfect for the newlywed couple to spend their wedding night. The bridal suite (which normally rents for $250 per night) is provided for the bride the night before the wedding and for the bride and groom on their wedding night, at no additional charge. Also included is a room for the groom and groomsmen on Friday night and for the groomsmen on Saturday night. 
We are located on two hundred quiet, country acres. The plantation offers several locations for your ceremony and many sites inside and out for your wedding photographs. We are fully heated and air-conditioned for your year-round comfort. We have five powder rooms for your guest use, two of which are handicap accessible. One of the nicest features of having your wedding and reception at Spring Grove Farm is that you have the exclusive use of the plantation from Friday through Sunday. You will appreciate the convenience of having all your wedding events in one spot and your guests will appreciate not having to drive around finding different locations. Many wedding venues just give you several hours for your ceremony and reception; at Spring Grove Farm you will have the entire week-end to get ready, host your events, spend time with your family and friends, and collapse with contented exhaustion in your private bridal retreat. On Sunday morning, you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast with your family and friends before heading off on your honeymoon. 
What About Food?Our commercial kitchen is available for the use of your licensed caterer. We provide the chairs for your ceremony, and tables and chairs for your reception. Tablecloths are also included for your food and reception tables. Our staff does all the set-up and take-down for your ceremony and reception.What About Drinks?We have an outdoor bar for use for your rehearsal party and wedding reception. If you plan to serve alcohol, Virginia ABC laws require that we hire a bartender to serve the liquor. We provide wine and bar glasses and we have a commercial ice maker. We charge twenty dollars per hour per bartender which includes the glasses and ice. You purchase the alcohol and set-ups. You will find that this arrangement for drinks is far less expensive than venues that charge a per drink charge. Also, any leftover liquor is yours to take home with you.What About Flowers, Decorations, Cake Bakers, Tents, Photographers, Bands, Etc.?
These are all your responsibility, but we can help with recommendations in most cases. You will find that with all of the architectural interest of the house, little additional decoration is needed to enhance the setting. Since it is your event, we encourage you to arrange flowers and decorations as you see fit. We will assist you in moving furniture to suit your needs. We will be responsible for having the grounds mowed and trimmed, and the porches and walks swept for your special day. Our only stipulation is that nothing be thrown indoors other than a bouquet.
What About Parking?With two hundred acres, we have much parking space available. Wedding guests will be directed to park in rows on one of several lawns near the house. We do have a ramp for handicap access to the house, as well as a handicap bathroom on the main floor.What About Children?Children are a vital part of weddings and special events, and our only requirement is that parents must keep them under control. We do have antiques and other breakables in the house, so parents need to either find a baby sitter for the day, or keep careful watch and control over their children. Many brides hire a baby-sitter for the day to watch over and help entertain children while they are here at the reception.How Do Guests Find Spring Grove?The easiest thing to do is to copy the written directions to Spring Grove Farm from our web site, and include these when you send out your invitations.
How Do We Get Started?First, you will certainly want to see our facilities before going any further with your plans. You will need to make an appointment to do this by calling Emily or Joe Sayers at (434) 352-7429. You may also Email us for an appointment at springgrovefarm@msn.com. Please note that wedding and reception sites fill up many months in advance, so please plan to visit early in your planning stages. If after you visit, you decide that you wish to have your wedding and/or reception here, you will give us a deposit of $2,000, which will guarantee the date for your event. The remaining $3500, plus 5% Virginia sales tax on the entire amount ($275), is due 90 days before your event. You may cancel your reservation up to six months in advance of your event, and your entire deposit will be returned. However, you will forfeit your deposit if you must cancel later than six months in advance of your date unless we are able to schedule another wedding for your date.We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. We will be glad to furnish references from satisfied brides and grooms whom we have served in the past.
