Wedding and Special Event Information
Our goal is to please our customers—we will do everything possible to make your event spectacular. If you have questions that this information sheet does not address, please do not hesitate to give us a call. (434)
352-9494, We have a carefully restored 16000 square foot plantation house complete with columned front and rear porticos. Ten public rooms on the main floor allow ample room for your guests. A large terrace and a ballroom offer space for dancing. Our beautiful staircase and other architectural details make lovely backdrops for your photographs. We can easily handle receptions of all sizes from thirty to well over two hundred guests and many more can be accommodated for outdoor events. We also have eleven bedrooms, all with private baths, for your out-of-town guests to use for your special week end. A separate cottage provides an additional two rooms and baths which will accommodate four more guests. The secluded bridal suite is perfect for the newlywed couple to spend their wedding night. The bridal suite (which normally rents for $250 per night) is provided for the bride the night before the wedding and for the bride and groom on their wedding night, at no additional charge. 
We are located on two hundred quiet country acres with plenty of parking for as many cars as you might have. We have a large terrace, several decks and many porches for your guests to use. We have sixteen wood-burning fireplaces in public rooms and in bedrooms for your guests to enjoy in cool weather. We are also fully heated and air conditioned for year-round comfort. We have a commercial kitchen for the preparation of food, either by us or by your own caterer. You will find that we have every imaginable piece of equipment for your receptions. We have plates in three sizes, silver flatware, tablecloths, silver serving pieces, champagne glasses, wine glasses, beer mugs, bar glasses, and punch cups. Twenty tables with floor length tablecloths are provided for the lawn area as well as chairs for your ceremony and reception—all at no extra cost. 
What About Food?Because we have a commercial kitchen, we are able to cater for large groups, or you may bring in your own caterer to use our kitchen and facilities, provided they do all the cleanup. If you wish us to do the catering, we will discuss with you the price per person after we know what types of food you wish served. If we provide the catering, all of the equipment mentioned above is included. If you have an outside caterer and wish to use our dishes, glassware, tablecloths, and silver, we charge an additional $500 to cover the polishing of silver, ironing of tablecloths, and washing of dishes and glassware before the event.What About Drinks?We have several good places indoors and out for locating bars. If you are planning to serve alcoholic beverages, you will need to purchase a one-time banquet license. These are easy to obtain by contacting the local ABC agent. You will then purchase the alcohol yourself, but we will serve it for you. You will find that this arrangement is far less expensive than purchasing alcohol by the drink.What About Flowers, Decorations, Cake Bakers, Tents, Photographers, Bands, Etc.?
These are all your responsibility, but we can help with recommendations in most cases. You will find that with all of the architectural interest of the house, little additional decoration is needed to enhance the setting. Since it is your event, we encourage you to arrange flowers and decorations as you see fit. We will assist you in moving furniture to suit your needs. We will be responsible for having the grounds mowed and trimmed, and the porches and walks swept for your special day. Our only stipulation is that nothing be thrown indoors other than a bouquet.
What About Parking?With two hundred acres, we have much parking space available. Wedding guests will be directed to park in rows on one of several lawns near the house. We do have a ramp for handicap access to the house, as well as a handicap bathroom on the main floor.What About Children?Children are a vital part of weddings and special events, and our only requirement is that parents must keep them under control. We do have antiques and other breakables in the house, so parents need to either find a baby sitter for the day, or keep careful watch and control over their children. Many brides hire a baby-sitter for the day to watch over and help entertain children while they are here at the reception.How Do Guests Find Spring Grove?The easiest thing to do is to copy the written directions to Spring Grove Farm from our web site, and include these when you send out your invitations.
How Do We Get Started?First, you will certainly want to see our facilities before going any further with your plans. You will need to make an appointment to do this by calling Emily Sayers at (434) 352-9494, (434) 352-7429, or toll free at (877) 409-1865. You may also Email us for an appointment at springgrovefarm@msn.com. Please be advised that wedding and reception sites book up many months in advance, so please plan to visit early in your planning stages. If after you visit, you decide that you want to have your wedding &/or your reception here, you will give us a deposit of $1,000, which will guarantee the date for your event. The remaining $4500, plus tax is due 90 days before the event. You may also cancel your reservation up to 120 days before the event and all your deposit will be returned. However, you will forfeit your deposit if you must cancel later than 120 days before your event, unless we are able to schedule another wedding. Your deposit may also be applied to another date if you must change the date of your wedding. If you choose us to do your catering, you will need to have the full amount for the catering to us 30 days before the event.We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards. We will be glad to furnish references from satisfied brides and grooms whom we have served in the past.
